Rookie Rugby

Rookie Rugby is a non-contact version of rugby that is a played in elementary and middle school programs and leagues until players are ready to be introduced to the traditional contact version of the game. It is popular in PE programs and park district programs as an excellent way to teach fitness, teamwork, decision-making, and inclusiveness.

Rugby Illinois is here to support educators, parents, and others looking to introduce rookie rugby programs and start leagues.

Help Introduce Rugby to Illinois Schools

By Rugby Illinois 04/07/2017, 9:00pm CDT

Rugby Illinois is working with School District 129 in West Aurora (SD129) to introduce rugby to the curriculum of the K-12 Schools in that district. We are seeking donations from the rugby community to fund hiring of rugby coaches from the local area to provide instruction to classes and SD129 PE teachers until such PE teachers are proficient with rugby instruction.  The success of the program in SD 129 will be instrumental for Rugby Illinois to introduce rugby to other school districts. Your support is appreciated and no donation is too small.
